South Florida Screwjob: School withholds diplomas from kids who pulled off graduation stunner

The students who pulled off the viral Stone Cold Stunner move at graduation had their diplomas held by administration.

Welcome to the real world, guys. Because it’s never too early to learn that as soon as you walk across the stage at high school graduation someone is always waiting to knock you down a peg, administrators at Miami Southwest High School decided to withhold diplomas from the two students who performed the Stone Cold Stunner stunt that went viral.

Per Local 10 News in South Florida:

"“I didn’t really expect it to become this big, but I guess people like it,” (Joseph) Castro said. But the glory of the moment was quickly squashed after administrators whisked them off stage.“They told us we should be embarrassed and ashamed,” said (Nicholas) Dean.“The administration was ‘very disappointed’ that we had done that,” Castro said.“It doesn’t look good on them, and I’m sorry about that, but there’s nothing I can do about it now,” Dean said.Besides the title belt, the students left graduation empty-handed as the school declined to award them their diplomas. The school district said Dean and Castro’s diplomas are being withheld until a meeting with their parents next week."

And there you have it. Shame on you kids for having fun. How dare you bring a little levity to the ceremony and give everyone in attendance a story to tell for the rest of their lives.

Oh, and you thought that you were out from under the tyrannical rule of your oppressive administration? Guess again. Prepare to be screwed by the long arm of the law. They’re still your overloads until you get that magnificently printed piece of paper.

(And p.s. they don’t care how many outstanding media center fines you had to settle, or how many all-nighters you pulled to earn that diploma. You can’t go stunning people out of nowhere. This ain’t an RKO we’re talking about here.)

Welcome, again, to the real world. Something like this doesn’t just reflect poorly on you; it also embarrasses those people whom have no rightful claim over you, but like to believe that they do. You made them feel ashamed, even though they were merely bystanders. Doesn’t make sense, you say? Real world.

Now go become productive members of society, gain fame and notoriety, and expect some fundraising phone calls from said school officials in, oh, 10-15 years. Real world.

And to the stodgy administrators:
