With the NBA Finals beginning Thursday, the Oakland Raiders are showing support for their fellow city resident franchise, the Golden State Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors have a lot of supporters as they aim to claim their first NBA Championship in almost 40 years. With many likable players and exciting energy, it’s almost impossible to not root for the Warriors.

One of the supporters of the Warriors, are their neighbors, the Oakland Raiders. Not only are the Raiders showing their support for the Warriors, they took a full page ad out in the newspaper to wish them well.

The ad features Stephen Curry, and underneath it has the famous quote of the late Raiders owner Al Davis, “Just Win Baby.”

It’s been a while since either of the Oakland franchises won a championship, with the Raiders last winning in 1983. The Oakland Athletics are the most recent team in the city to win a title, with their World Series coming in 1989.

It’s a big deal for a town that hasn’t won a professional championship in almost 30 years, and almost 40 for the Warriors. No one likes a loser,  and when one team is a winner it’s hard for the other teams in the market to not get swept up in it all.

Hopefully for the Warriors, they perform a lot better than the Raiders did the last time they were in the Super Bowl.
