A female fan in attendance at the Boston Red Sox game on Friday was struck by a broken bat and has life-threatening injuries.
A female fan attending the Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics game at Fenway Park on Friday was taken away via stretcher after being hit by a piece of a broken bat.

When Athletics third baseman Brett Lawrie broke his bat on the play, a shard flew into the stands and struck the woman in the head.
She began to bleed from her wound, was immediately tended to and was eventually stretchered out of the stadium right past the Boston Red Sox dugout.

It is now being reported that she is battling life threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
