American Pharoah jockey Victor Espinoza got to throw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium on Sunday
Boy, what a whirlwind 24 hours it has been for jockey Victor Espinoza. On Saturday he etched his name in the history books as he rode American Pharoah to the first Triple Crown in 37 years with a dominant win in the Belmont Stakes, and on Saturday, he got to take in some action at Yankee Stadium.
Not only did he get to take in the game between the Yankees and Angels, though, he was a pretty big part of the festivities as well. Prior to the third game of this series getting underway on Sunday, Espinoza got to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. And compared to a lot of other people, he didn’t do all that bad.
His amazing day at Yankee Stadium didn’t end there, as he also got the pleasure of joining the Yankees announcers in the booth for a little bit as well.
When you make the kind of history that Espinoza did on Saturday with that incredible Belmont Stakes win, people are going to be clamoring to get a little bit of your time immediately after.
Plus, it made all the sense in the world to bring him into Yankee Stadium, seeing as the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes was a little more of an attraction than the actual Angels vs Yankees game was on Saturday.
