Jim Brown on LeBron James bowing: ‘One of my favorite sports moments of all time’
By Mike Dyce
Cleveland Browns legend Jim Brown was honored by LeBron James’ bowing tribute to him before Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
Before Game 3 of the NBA Finals, where Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is looking to end the city’s championship drought, he did something spectacular. As James prepared for the game to begin, he saw Cleveland Browns legend Jim Brown sitting court side and bowed to him.
It was a gesture of one legend of the city honoring the other.
“It was an honor for this young man to pay tribute to an old soldier,” Brown said, via the Northeast Ohio Media Group.
Brown added: “It was one of my favorite sports moments of all time. He didn’t have to be thinking about me, so for him to even have the brilliance to show that kind of respect, it doesn’t happen too many times in my life.
“It was a wonderful feeling.”
It certainly was a remarkable gesture and will go down in the lore of Cleveland sports. If James does lead the Cavaliers to an NBA Championship this month, ending a drought that extends back to Brown’s 1964 NFL championship team, this could be remembered as a passing the torch kind of moment.
