When J.R. Smith did the most J.R. Smith thing of all time by showing up to Game 4 on what looked like a Segway but turned out to be some sort of hovercraft machine, we were worried about the possibility that his entrance would be the highlight of his night.

It turned out that we were right, as Smith went 2-12 from the field, and 0-8 from behind the arc on his way to just 4 points in 28 minutes. On top of that, the Cavs were -27 when he was on the floor. Which, single game plus/minus doesn’t always tell the whole story, but I mean, come on.

But I will give J.R. credit. He’s owning up to his poor performances. When asked about it after the game, he had this to say.

Yep, sounds about right. It goes without saying, but even as great as LeBron is, he’s going to need some help from the guys around him if the Cavs want to pull this thing off. And J.R. is just the guy that we’re talking about. A better performance from him will go a long way in helping Cleveland steal another game in Oracle on Sunday night.
