There are very few bad uniforms in Major League Baseball today, but who has the best set? Let’s take a look at our MLB uniform power rankings.

As baseball fans, we’re lucky that there are so many good looking uniform sets in Major League Baseball. Sure, teams wear too many alternate jerseys and caps for my traditional tastes, and it would be nice to see more socks and stirrups on a regular basis instead of the more common “pajama bottom” low-worn pants, but there are few bad uniforms in the game today.

In my opinion, there is actually just one bad big league uniform set, a handful of misguided choices for logos, word marks or alternates, and a few minor imperfections. Then, there are about 15 absolutely perfect, beautiful uniforms.

But who has the best of the best, and why? To answer that question, we’ve ranked all 30 teams by their uniforms.

How will our MLB uniform power rankings be set? There was some thought put to a scoring system, though because of the irregular number of caps and jerseys each teams use, it was not perfect.

Each of the 30 Major League clubs was ranked in four categories from 1-30: The team’s home cap and home jersey as well as the road cap and road jersey. It was not possible to rank all team’s alternate jerseys and caps, or additional items like stirrups, since not all teams use a third (or fourth, or fifth) jersey. Similarly, not all teams dust off throwback uniforms regularly, so it wasn’t possible to rank all 30 teams by their retro options either.

Instead, these rankings come with a more subjective “The Good” section, in which a team can earn bonus points that can push a team a little higher in the rankings for a beautiful regular throwback uniform set (we’re looking at you, Seattle), and “The Bad,” which may drop them a spot or two for a dreadful alternate jersey (like the Twins’ blue tops and Rockies’ black vests) or an unfortunate cap selection (the solid red lids worn by the Rangers and Colorado’s purple helmet).

Therefore, there is a little science and a little art that goes into ranking each Major League Baseball franchise’s current uniform set, but in the end we settled on a perfect formula that everyone will agree with. Right?

Without further ado, let’s look at the Major League Baseball uniform power rankings, from worst to first.
