  • Home Cap: 1st
  • Home Jersey: 2nd
  • Road Cap: 1st
  • Road Jersey: 5th

The Good: Like most of the original American League teams, Boston has a classic look that is difficult to improve upon. Alternates are kept to a minimum, and throwbacks – such as the red caps of the 1970s and the red stocking on the 1908 jersey – look great on the rare occasion they make an on-field appearance.

The home jerseys are the second best in baseball, and if these rankings took only the primary home and road uniforms into account, the Red Sox would top the standings.

In my personal opinion, it doesn’t get better than the traditional red B on the navy blue Boston Red Sox cap, and the logo narrowly edges out the rival Yankees for the best cap in the big leagues. However, the occasional use of alternative jerseys is a strike against Boston, and they’ll instead settle for third overall in our MLB uniform power rankings.

The Bad: The only negative aspects of the Boston Red Sox uniform set are the red and blue alternate jerseys. Though they are not bad enough to do major damage to the historic Red Sox brand, and have only been worn three times apiece so far this year, it would be better if they simply didn’t exist.
