MLB: Major League Baseball uniform power rankings
- Home Cap: 2nd
- Home Jersey: 1st
- Road Cap: 2nd
- Road Jersey: 8th
The Good: As I’ve said before, I’m a traditionalist. Well, it doesn’t get more traditional than the New York Yankees interlocking NY logo that debuted in 1909 as the logo for the New York Highlanders or the pinstripes that made their first appearance on the home uniforms in 1912. Also, it doesn’t really impact our ratings here, but the Yankees also were the first club to use permanent uniform numbers, so that’s worth noting since it changed uniforms in all sports forever.
The Bad: The Yankees, aside from the very rare throwback game, don’t use alternate caps or jerseys, and therefore don’t lose any points for mucking up one of the best looks in all of baseball.
However, the only thing holding the Yankees back from the top overall spot is the road uniform. The plain gray jerseys and pants with the block New York across the chest is a good look, but it’s not nearly as good as the pinstripes and it also doesn’t stack up when compared to teams like the Red Sox, Pirates, Cardinals and the best of them all, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
