At 52, Michael Jordan thinks he could still beat any player on the Charlotte Hornets roster in a 1-on-1 game.
The debate rages on about Michael Jordan and LeBron James, who is the greatest of all time? While that debate might never be settled, there is one debate that could be settled, Jordan versus any members of the Charlotte Hornets.
In an interview with France’s L’Equipe, he was asked if he thinks he could still beat any members of the Hornets in a game of 1-on-1 and he confidently says he could.
As transcribed by CBS Sports‘ Ananth Pandian:
"L’Equipe: Do you think you can play against some of your guys right now? Do you sometimes do that or not? Could you win on one-on-ones against them?Jordan: I’m pretty sure I can, so I don’t want to do that and demolish their confidence. So I stay away from them, I let them think they’re good…but I’m too old to do that anyway."
That certainly would be interesting to see, and kind of unlikely. Though it is worth mentioning that 1-on-1 is a different game than an actual NBA game, it is conceivable that Jordan could create enough space to get shots up and win a game.
