The Milwaukee Bucks are on the cusp of being a special franchise, and the missing piece might be Roy Hibbert.

Last season was critical to the growth of the Milwaukee Bucks, and it has installed so much hope in the franchise that things are looking up like they never have before. They made big trades at the deadline to make sure they had a young roster for the future, but then something funny happened — they started winning.

Armed with disposed of young talent like Michael Carter-Williams and Miles Plumlee, the Bucks made the postseason as the No. 6 seed but were bounced out in the first-round by the Chicago Bulls. That didn’t burden fans with the same depressing feeling they usually have, as the team has new uniforms and a new outlook on the 2015-16 season.

What this means is the Bucks could be big shoppers in the offseason. They traded away Ersan Ilyasova to free up even more cap space and have roughly $22 million to burn on a big free agent.

According to Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders, the Bucks could end up targeting Roy Hibbert this summer to push the team to the next level.

Of course, Hibbert has a player option for the 2015-16 season worth $15.5 million, and the chances he passes on that kind of money isn’t very high. But he may want another max deal and may not want to wait until next summer to get one. If that’s the case, he could grab a deal from the Bucks and become the superstar that they’ve been looking to add for years now.

There are strings attached with Hibbert, as his production with the Indiana Pacers has taken a nose dive over the last year. That’s not something that a team would want overspend for, but the Bucks need a big man and Hibbert has the ability to be one of the best in the NBA.
