Tina Charles of the New York Liberty currently makes 100,00 dollars per year, which pales in comparison to the salaries of the many New York Knicks she shares an arena with, but that hasn’t stopped her from choosing to use half of her salary towards a cause she finds extremely important.

Charles, founder of the “Hopey’s Heart” foundation, will be donating half of her salary to the foundation she created in hopes that her donations will help prevent similar organ failures that caused her aunt’s death in 2013.

"“It means a lot just to keep the awareness out there about sudden cardiac arrest,” Charles said. “Taking an interest in others is key in my life. It’s my way of giving back. My passion of placing AEDs. Anything I can do to impact an institution with an AED is extremely important to me.”"

Stories like this are not only awesome, but one of those moments that remind us how incredible other people can be. Charles doesn’t owe anybody anything. Nothing is requiring her to give away even a cent of her salary, but how much she makes isn’t as important to her as this cause. Charles believes what she’s doing is going to help someone out there, and that’s incredible.
