Can’t stop, won’t stop. The Pittsburgh Steelers have decided that for the fourth straight year, they will be wearing their 1934 throwback uniforms, according to Pro Football Talk. If you can’t picture which ones they are, think of a bumblebee on steroids, imprisoned with a helmet on.

The Steelers have some of the best uniforms in all of sports, but these 1934 editions are some of the worst we have ever seen. Perhaps that what makes it fun, but geez, they are hideous. This year, the uniforms will be worn against the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 1. If you tune into that contest, be ready to see more stripes than you could have ever imagined. It’s going to be like watching a prison riot.

Normally, Pittsburgh has the beautiful black and gold look with the logo only on one side of the helmet. Why is that? Well, quick history lesson. Back in 1962, the team wanted to test out the logo on their then-gold helmets. That year, the Steelers went 9-5 and qualified for the Playoff Bowl, a game which pitted the second-place teams from the Eastern and Western Conferences against each other.

It was the most successful campaign the Steelers had in years, so in the playoff game the team wanted to do something special. They painted the helmets black, letting the logo pop a bit more. After having such a productive season, the helmets stayed black and the logo remained, but only on the one side, per the team website. The Steelers are the only professional football team to have one side of their helmet blank, and the other with a logo.

The only question is whether this is the worst throwback uniform in the league. The brown and gold duds that the Denver Broncos trotted out in 2009 where something never to be forgotten, especially those vertically striped socks. The Philadelphia Eagles also have those blue and yellow uniforms, something that is a life-changer on many levels.
