Philadelphia 76ers unveil new uniforms (Video)
Blending past and present, the Philadelphia 76ers unveiled their new uniforms on Thursday.
The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the classic NBA franchises and have had great uniforms over the years. However, it was no secret that they needed to ditch the current duds for some new ones and bring some energy to a team that looks far from contention.
Well, armed with a strong history and plenty of exciting young players for the future, the 76ers created new uniforms that blended the past and the present.
At the Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday, current and past 76ers came together to talk about what Philadelphia meant to them. They then unveiled the uniforms as banners dropped from the ceiling of the arena.
Here’s a cool video showing the banners unfolding down to unveil the new look that will carry the 76ers into their future.
The first set of uniforms, the home white uniforms, say “Phila” across the front, with the stars of the logo down the side.
The road blue uniforms are sharp, and are the inverse of the home white uniforms.
The stars on the side of the uniform are a perfect throwback to the 76ers of old. These jerseys have that classic feel to them as it serves up reminders of Julius Erving throwing down ridiculous dunks.
As always is the case with new uniforms, the 76ers also have an alternate, and even better, it isn’t sleeved either.
The jerseys say “Sixers” across the front, and take inspiration from the one’s they wore when Charles Barkley was running up and down the court.
After the Los Angeles Clippers revealed an abomination of a jersey Wednesday, the 76ers have made everything good again with these fantastic uniforms.
