The 1996 movie Happy Gilmore has its batting cage scene recreated by Ottawa Senators forward Curtis Lazar.

For folks who have not seen the classic 1996 movie Happy Gilmore, the plot summary is simple: Adam Sandler plays an unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers a talent for golf. People who have seen the movie often reminisce about the scene featuring Bob Barker and Adam Sandler getting into a fist fight.

Ottawa Senators forward Curtis Lazar apparently has a different favorite scene.

The Senators were ousted from the Stanley Cup Playoffs on April 26th. A mere seven weeks later, Lazar is already so bored he’s putting himself in front of batting cage balls.

Last season was Lazar’s first year in the NHL and the rookie has already shown a lot of spunk. When fans started throwing hamburgers onto the ice for goalie sensation Andrew Hammond (whom the city nicknamed “the Hamburglar”), Lazar was the first to player to pick up and actually eat a celebratory burger.

For the fans of the movie Happy Gilmore, here’s the batting cage scene in all its glory.
