According to a report, the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to trade for Sacramento Kings’ DeMarcus Cousins.

The NBA Draft and free agency is approaching, which means there are a lot of moving parts in the league. ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to trade for Sacramento KingsDeMarcus Cousins.

For now the Kings are denying the report.

And the denial of the possibly of moving Cousins goes back to at least May, when Kings vice president Vlade Divac said Cousins was untradeable.

“Well I think coach [Karl] kind of stepped it up further than he should,” Divac said on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “Of course, everybody has their opinion, but right now, if we’re talking about today, yeah, DeMarcus is untradeable. He’s a guy who we’re going to try to build around and see where he’s going to take us.”

Stein also reports that the Lakers have recruited the Orlando Magic to make a three team trade, offering up center Nikola Vucevic to the Kings. The tree teams have top-six picks for the draft Thursday night.

This would give the Lakers a big man to replace Dwight Howard, who left in free agency for the Houston Rockets and never really had the impact they hoped during his lone season in Los Angeles.

Vucevic wouldn’t he a horrendous replacement for Cousins, especially if Cousins is determined to leave and unhappy in Sacramento. Depending what the haul could be, the Kings’ “untradeable” stance could waiver.
