The Denver Broncos apparently nearly unloaded Peyton Manning this off-season

Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos will take yet another shot at the Super Bowl title that has eluded them the past few years, however, we might be finding out that this almost wasn’t the case. That’s because the Broncos may have been looking to unload one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time.

According to Benjamin Allbright of 94.1 FM in Denver, the Broncos were indeed looking to deal Manning, and they were looking to ship him off to the Houston Texans.

Now as for the reasoning behind this, apparently there are people within the Broncos organization that are more than ready to hand the keys over to backup Brock Osweiler, who the team drafted as their quarterback of the future a few years ago.

If this is indeed true, then this would have shaken the landscape of the entire NFL. While he wasn’t at his best last season by any means, especially in the playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Manning showed last year that he does have some gas left in the tank to help a team make a run.

What really makes sense about all of this, too, is the team they were looking to deal with. Right now the Houston Texans have a lot of questions at the quarterback position, so them being involved with something of this nature wouldn’t be surprising in the least. Knowing how much Bill O’Brien values the quarterback position, if he had the chance to have Peyton Manning as his signal caller, he’d urge his management team to get all over that.

Whether true or not, it’s certainly interesting to learn that there are folks within the Broncos organization that are willing to give up on the Peyton Manning project that started in 2012 when he came over from the Colts.
