Even though he wants to part ways with his best player, there’s apparently no chance that George Karl gets canned soon

Over the course of the past 24 hours or so, it’s really been brought to light that Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl wants nothing to do with DeMarcus Cousins, and he’d be more than willing to deal him. Because of this, a lot of people believe that the Kings should just cut their losses, consider the George Karl experiment a failure and fire him.

Well, it doesn’t look as if that’s going to happen anytime in the near future.

According to USA TODAY’s Sam Amick, despite the Kings being the poster child for a dumpster fire over the past day, there’s “zero chance” of Karl being put on the unemployment line soon.

Of course, the key word in that report is “soon,” as you’d really have to wonder how long the franchise could keep up with all the drama that’s going on, which clearly all centers around the head coach. Plus, it seems like it’s more than just management that’s upset with the way that he’s handled things.

Looking down the line here, it really is hard to imagine this relationship working out. Whether the Kings go against the report and fire him tomorrow, or wait a few weeks, we’ve clearly entered a zone here where it’s either George Karl or DeMarcus Cousins — one or the other.

If anything, though, this has given us one hell of a storyline to watch play out as the NBA Draft nears and rumors of Cousins potentially getting dealt continue to flood the league news wire.
