The St. Louis Cardinals are dominating both baseball and our MLB Power Rankings this season!

Sometimes, a dominant team just steps up and asserts itself above the rest, proclaiming themselves the champions of the world…during the regular season. Thus far in 2015, the St. Louis Cardinals have been that team.

As of Wednesday morning, the Cardinals owned a five game lead over the second best team in baseball, the Kansas City Royals. At 205 runs allowed, the Cardinals have allowed almost 30 runs fewer than the Pittsburgh Pirates, who rank second with 234 allowed as of June 24th. They are the exact opposite of the Toronto Blue Jays, beating their opponents into submission with their pitching staff as opposed to out-slugging them on a nightly basis.

That’s not to say that this is how things will shake out when the full 162-game season has been completed. Teams like the Royals, Pirates, Washington Nationals, Houston Astros, and more will certainly have a say in that, especially after the MLB Trade Deadline shakes things up a bit. Things could be drastically different if injuries continue to pop up for the Cardinals or if the other contenders for the crown gather reinforcements.

That said, we know the Cardinals have made their presence felt in our weekly MLB Power Rankings, but who else is ready to step up and take the crown away from St. Louis? Who else wants to proclaim they are among the top teams in the game?
