Re-Sign J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert

When Cleveland acquired J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert from the New York Knicks, they knew they were getting at least one solid addition for the future. That was thought to be Shumpert at the time, but it ended up being J.R. Smith. There’s no reason the both of them shouldn’t be re-signed though, as they both add elements to the Cavaliers roster that will be hard to replace.

J.R. Smith is always going to be good for about a hundred shots per game, most of which happen to go in even if physics say they shouldn’t. He single handedly won the Cavaliers a big game in Atlanta in the Conference Finals and contributed in a big way throughout the postseason.

Shumpert is Cleveland’s perimeter defender and someone who is capable of helping spark a run offense from time to time. Together, they fill huge holes on the Cavaliers roster that will be hard to fill if they’re allowed to leave this summer.
