Streaming pitchers is an different strategy. Effective, but different. It’s not all about the pitcher. It’s about exploiting a poor matchup at the right time. Whether it’s against the worst offense in the league or a team who just lost their star player, it’s about timing. If you need to catch up in the ratio stats like ERA and WHIP or counting stats like Ks, IP or W, here are three streaming options to pick from on July 1.

These picks are for owners playing in season-long leagues. If you are playing daily fantasy, these pitchers could be used as your No. 2 option after you spend a boatload of money on your top guy.

Taijuan Walker, @SD

Walker struggled in the first month of the season, but looks to have settled in. He has five quality starts (4-1) with a 2.36 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in the month of June. He also has 36 strikeouts over 34.1 innings. The reason I bring this up is because Walker faces the San Diego Padres in his next outing. The Padres are second in strikeouts this month, 240 as a team. Walker can easily pitch six innings with two earned runs and seven strikeouts.

Chris Heston, @MIA

More from FanSided

Heston has gone 2-1 since pitching the no-hitter on June 9. In the two wins, he has allowed two earned runs and struck out six in each. He’s brought down his ERA and WHIP throughout the month of June, and the matchup against the Miami Marlins could not have come at a better time. The Marlins, as we know, are without their superstar hitter Giancarlo Stanton. Now there is practically no one to rough up Heston, which makes him a good streaming option. He is owned in just over 52 percent of leagues.

Brett Anderson, @ARI

Speaking of facing the Marlins, Anderson dominated his last outing. He went seven innings, allowing one runs on five hits and a walk while striking out 10. He has been on a roll as of late, allowing just four runs over his last three games (21 innings). Anderson is pitching deeper into games, 6 2/3 innings per start in June. His next start will be against the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 10th-most strikeouts in June, 210. As a middle-of-the-rotation guy, Anderson is a deep streaming pick.
