Power ranking the NL MVP candidates following Giancarlo Stanton’s injury
Todd Frazier is a name on this list that many people might not really know about. The former Rutgers star has been in the league just five years now and has gradually gotten better each season while making a name for himself with the Cincinnati Reds.

Yes, I understand Cincinnati is currently 16.0 games out of first place in the NL Central, but the Reds are in the same division as the team with the best record in baseball, the Cardinals, and are only six games out of the last wild card spot. If the Reds can somehow make the playoffs, Frazier’s MVP hopes will stay alive.
It’s hard to ignore the type of numbers Frazier has been putting up this season. He has knocked 25 home runs out of the park, good for second-most in the league, while also posting the fifth-most RBI in baseball (54).
Just how much has he improved from last season? All of last year, Frazier hit 29 home runs and had 80 RBI. He’s currently on pace for about 54 homers and 117 RBI. While being a Most Improved Player candidate, he has to also be considered a MVP Award possibility as well.
