DeAndre Jordan

There will be plenty of teams courting DeAndre Jordan, and the Knicks will attempt to make him their big man of the future. He’s not at the top of their list, as Greg Monroe will be the center they want to tout for years to come. Jordan should be behind Robin Lopez as well on the Knicks list of free agents to consider but he deserves consideration.

When Phil Jackson sees DeAndre Jordan, he has to see Shaq-Lite, in a way. He can’t shoot free throws to save his life but he balances that with a defensive tenacity that is going to make him a superstar in years to come. New York needs the beefy defensive production that Jordan can provide, as well as his post offense that only has room for improvement.

It’s not a perfect fit, and the Knicks aren’t at the top of Jordan’s list of teams to play for, but both parties can do worse. Jordan might not be New York bound, but adding him could be something that helps get the team on the right path quicker than we’re all anticipating.
