The Miami Heat need to convince Dwyane Wade to re-sign, and their first big move is bringing back Goran Dragic on a $90 million deal.

When the Miami Heat were informed that Dwayne Wade was hitting free agency, it was apparent that they needed to make some big moves to make sure they don’t lose two pillars of their franchise in two consecutive summers.

Last year, LeBron James roasted the Heat by leaving for Cleveland last summer and now Wade is holding Pat Riley’s feet to the fire in free agency. The first move for the Heat has been made, but it’s not a new contract for their long-time guard. Instead, it’s a massive deal for a much newer guard that the Heat wanted to keep around.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports, the Heat have rolled out the red carpet for Goran Dragic and busted out the checkbook to keep him in town. The official numbers are’t in and can’t be confirmed until July 9th, but it’s looking like a $90 million deal for the guard.

"Goran Dragic has reached agreement on a five-year, $90 million contract wtih the Miami Heat, league sources told Yahoo Sports."

This was a move the Heat needed to make in order to make sure they don’t regress in 2015-16. The one thing the Heat lacked the entire time they had LeBron James was a guard that could lead the team, and that’s who Dragic can be. The only problem is, two of the three big pieces that made Miami a mini-dynasty are gone and LeBron James is not coming back.

Bringing back Dwyane Wade is what the Heat want to do, but if they’re unable to renew that partnership, they have the pieces in place to become a title contender with or without Wade in town.
