Report: Clippers, Paul Pierce agree to three-year deal
By Josh Hill
The Los Angeles Clippers have finally convinced Paul Pierce to give the basketball world what they want and reunite with Doc Rivers.
After two seasons away from head coach Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce is finally going to get the band back together and rejoin his longtime mentor. Pierce spent the 2013-14 season with the Brooklyn Nets before playing in Washington last season.
Meanwhile, Rivers has spent the last two seasons in Los Angeles trying to fix the Clippers, and the universe has brought them back together.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports, the Clippers have agreed to give Paul Pierce a three-year contract this summer.
It may have been a gross overpayment for Pierce, who is set to make $10 million, but you can’t put a price on the relationship that he had with Doc back in Boston.
Head coaches and star players often get linked together in the annals of sports history, and one of the more underrated duos is Doc and Pierce. They didn’t put together a dynasty in Boston, but they grew from being nothing to being NBA champions.
There was a lot of work in that span of time that was put in, and putting Doc and Pierce back together in Los Angeles could finally lead to a title coming the Clippers way after so many years of waiting.
