Well it appears here on the second day of NBA Free Agency that the Monta Ellis sweepstakes has come to a close. According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, the guard and the Indiana Pacers have reached an agreement on a four-year deal that will pay him in the area of $44 million.

Ellis was one of the more coveted free-agent options on the market this summer. The team other than the Pacers that was reported to have the most interest in signing Ellis was the Sacramento Kings. With this move on Thursday, they’ll now more than likely turn all their attention to acquiring Rajon Rondo.

As a matter of fact, to take his talents to Indiana, it turns out that Ellis actually turned down a larger offer from the Kings, who isn’t exactly the most stable organization at the moment.

In Ellis, the Pacers are getting another scoring threat on the floor to go along with Paul George, whom the team is expecting to be back at full strength this year. Last season as a member of the Dallas Mavericks, Ellis averaged 18.9 points per game with 4.1 assists. He certainly brings a little more firepower to this Pacers team that’s looking to restore itself to being a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference once again.

Monta Ellis is getting set to enter his 11th year in the NBA and the Pacers will be the fourth team he’s been a part of.
