A few weeks ago New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez continued his magical comeback season when he recorded his 3,000th hit, which came from a home run. While hitting a home run to achieve the feat is magical, it can sometimes come with a price, which Rodriguez found out. The fan that caught the ball, Zack Hample, was basically holding it up for ransom.

Well, thanks to the New York Yankees, A-Rod will be getting his milestone ball returned to him on Friday.

In a statement released by the Yankees, it was revealed that Hample will be returning the ball to Rodriguez at a press conference that will be held at 5:30 PM ET on Friday afternoon. In return for giving the milestone ball back, the Yankees will donate $150,000 to charity. Hample has recently been working with the Yankees on a potential deal, twice meeting with some of the higher-ups on the team. Apparently they were finally able to come to an agreement, which probably also include some perks for Hample that we might not ever know about. But at the very least, we know the Yankees are donating to charity, which is a nice gesture in itself.

It’s also nice to see the Yankees helping their star third baseman out, especially considering that the two sides haven’t exactly been on the best of terms. With the Yankees and A-Rod not seeing eye-to-eye on milestone bonuses because of the circumstances surrounding his 2014 suspension, the relationship has been anything but rosy. But in the end here, they did the right thing by Rodriguez.
