The 2015 edition of NBA free agency is already in full swing, so the Hardwood Paroxysm crew took a minute to reflect on some dream free agent signings that we would like to see happen. All within reason though, of course. While Orlando Magic fans would surely love to see LeBron James don the blue and white, that just isn’t happening.

Tyson Chandler to the Milwaukee Bucks

By: Chris Manning (@cwmwrites)

Tyson Chandler is no longer the defensive stalwart he was when the Dallas Mavericks won the 2011 NBA title. He is still there – he averaged a double-double last year in his return to Dallas – but he’s not quite capable of holding together a team anymore at his age. This puts Chandler at a fork in the road. Or, to be more precise, Chandler is at a fork in the road with three prongs.

Depending on what other moves the Mavericks make, Chandler might have the option to return to Dallas and try to win again with Dirk, move to a contender and take a huge pay cut or move to a team on the rise and become the veteran presence. The latter is the most interesting because it allows Chandler to both still play minutes he deserves and pass on his skill sets. It just so happens that the Milwaukee Bucks want to Chandler to fill this roll.

For starters, the Bucks are coached by Chandler’s ex- teammate Jason Kidd. The team Kidd took over last season is is young and exciting and on the way up. Jabari Parker, Giannis and Khris Middleton give the Bucks three, young exciting build blocks. They allow the Bucks to play a variety of styles and all should get better over the next few years. And with Parker likely needing to play the four in order to get all three on the floor at once, rim protection is necessary.

Enter Chandler. He provides the mobile defense and veteran leadership the Bucks need. The Bucks can also pay Chandler more than a contender can and, with the East being the East, Chandler can impact the Bucks in a meaningful way. For both sides, Chandler becoming a Buck makes far too much sense.

{Ed. note: Obviously Chandler is now a Phoenix Sun, but Chris’ dream of him playing for the Bucks will never die.}
