Well, apparently you don’t want to get into a beef with one of the biggest WWE stars of all-time, Stone Cold Steve Austin, because if you do, then the company will tell you to pack your bags. And apparently it doesn’t matter who you are, not even if you’re Rowdy Roddy Piper.
According to a report from PW Insider, WWE has released Piper from his Legends deal following his little spat with Stone Cold Steve Austin. The announcement was made by Ric Flair on the most recent edition of his own podcast.
This all stems from Piper’s podcast being dropped from Podcast One, a decision that he believes came from Austin himself. During a recent edition of the show, Piper used comedian Will Sasso to impersonate Austin, a move that didn’t go over quite well with the “Texas Rattlesnake.” On the first edition of his podcast outside of the Podcast One family, Piper revealed that he believes he was dropped from Podcast One because of Austin’s unhappiness over the skit.
Throughout the years Piper has had his issues with WWE and Vince McMahon in particular. Back in the mid-2000s, Piper was actually working on camera with WWE when he did an interview with HBO. It was there that he not only admitted to his past drug use, but also revealed how much he believes the wrestling business can ruin someone’s life. Not long after the interview aired, Piper was fired from the company.
Still, it’s pretty interesting to see here who WWE sides with when there’s two legendary names beefing with one another. Although, their relationship with Austin is a little more lucrative, as he still does a lot of work with the company, including hosting live editions of his podcast on the WWE Network every now and then. Piper, on the other hand, might make a live appearance every few years or so on RAW or a pay-per-view show.
