Prediction: Kyle Busch wins

When the odds are stacked against him, Kyle Busch rises above and overcomes them.

This season has been all about overcoming the odds for Kyle Busch. First he suffered a leg injury at the first Xfinity Series race at Daytona that should have ended his season and possibly his career. Then he was back a few months later and ready to take on the Sprint Cup Series again.

He was even given a chance to earn the right to compete for a spot in “The Chase.” To get there he had to just accomplish two things: Win a race and finish in the top-30 in points. After a couple wrecks looked like they were going to take Busch out of it altogether, he bounced back with a win at Sonoma to knock off the first item on the checklist.

Now he has more adversity to face. Needing an average of a top-14 finish over the final 10 races before the postseason begins, Busch ended up wrecking at Daytona and finishing 32nd. With no room for error and in need of even higher finishes now, Busch will have nine races to get into the top-30 in points.

Simply put, Busch needs some wins or a string of top-5 finishes, which will be no easy task. Still, he is one of the most talented drivers out there and he could easily get there with one more win.

Going for Busch, is the fact that he won the inaugural race at Kentucky, and Joe Gibbs Racing tends to run well there ever since NASCAR started racing there in 2011.

Of all the drivers to watch down the stretch, all eyes should be on No. 18 and if he can work his way into competing for a Sprint Cup Championship.

Dominating the Quaker State 400 is a must.
