San Diego Chargers

Most probably expected to see Philip Rivers here, but the stunner prevails. Eric Weddle is the best player on the Chargers, and has been for a few seasons. Weddle has been overshadowed at his position with Eric Berry, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor drawing headlines, but nobody has been steadier than Weddle.

Weddle has been an All-Pro each of the last five season but somehow, San Diego general manager Tom Telesco reportedly did not want to discuss an extension with the safety. Weddle is very likely to test free agency after 2015, giving him all the motivation he could need to perform.

Honorable mention: Philip Rivers, Corey Liuget

Oakland Raiders

This was really no contest. While quarterback Derek Carr threw for more than 3,000 yards and 21 touchdowns as a rookie last season, but it was the man picked a round before him who stole the show. Former University of Buffalo linebacker Khalil Mack is everything the Raiders could have wanted when taken fifth-overall, putting together a Defensive Rookie of the Year campaign.

Mack posted 13 stuffs to lead the team and came on in the pass-rushing situations as the year progressed, notching four sacks along with 75 tackles. After adding inside linebacker Curtis Lofton in free-agency, Oakland has put together a solid linebackers group.
