Have you ever wondered what the greatest all-time Home Run Derby lineup would look like?

Over the years, the MLB Home Run Derby has grown in popularity immensely and, like the NBA’s dunk contest, during the All-Star Break, this is the one event that fans look forward to watching the most.

Since its inauguration in 1985, the Home Run Derby has seen all-time great power hitters come through and dominate the contest while it has left many wondering what it would have looked like to see some of the best hitters of all-time, pre-1985, compete.

Yes, I am talking about even the greatest hitters from the early-to-mid 1900s. While there are only a handful that I would have liked to see in the Home Run Derby, I also thought it would be interesting to compile the perfect field of competitors just to imagine the greatness in one contest at the same time.

Going off the current format of eight players and three rounds, the list has been made and eight have been chosen — along with one honorable mention who cannot be overlooked.

If you’re a fan of power hitters, the guys I am about to name will have you salivating and wishing this contest was somehow physically possible.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the contest, let’s take a look at the all-time MLB Home Run Derby lineup.
