In an 80-plus year history, the MLB All-Star Game has had plenty of memorable moments. Here are the 10 best.

I’ve written a lot over the last week about the history of the All-Star Game, and the present realities the event faces.

I’m not complaining. I love baseball. I love writing. And I’m becoming more and more fascinated about history in general, especially baseball’s incredible history.

This is my final piece on the history of the All-Star Game, at least for this go-round.

In some ways it’s been the most fun to research and write. It’s given me the most freedom.

A moment can be fleeting. They often are. But moments can also transcend time, to the point where time has no grip on them. They are historical events. But they’re more. They are photos etched in the minds of those who got to behold them.

They do not recall only the moment itself, but all our sense. Where were we when this happened, or that happened? You may remember eating a certain dish, or a song playing in the background, or the kids running and rough-housing outside. Or any of a thousand other possibilities of sensory cognition a given moment brings back.

Many of baseball’s greatest moments bring a baseball fanatic goosebumps. Or it could probably be said they should. If they do not, one might question his or her baseball fanaticism.

In some cases, it can bring back a laugh, others a tear. In the moment you may have felt some outside force calling and causing you to stand up and salute or clap at the television set in front of you, just because, because that’s what a baseball fan would do.

All of the best moments in MLB All-Star Game history bring some kind of reaction. They all hit your senses in some way, shape or form.

And if they don’t, you may not be a red-blooded American.

You may be too young to remember some or all of these. If so, take these few moments to orient yourself with the great moments of baseball Midsummer Classic pasts.

Live in them. Allow your senses to be shaken. They are epic, all in their own way. Some will make you laugh, some stand up and applaud. And a few may make you cry.

Whatever you do, please enjoy them as the greatest moments in MLB All-Star Game history.
