Bills offensive line coach charged with battery
This is one of those stories that seems to ridiculous and insane to possibly be true. Yet, it very well might be. On Sunday morning, Buffalo Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer was arrested in Florida on a misdemeanor battery charge, according to Mike Rodak of ESPN.
Per the statement released by the Walton County (Fla.) sheriff’s office, the 48-year-old Kromer and his son approached three boys who were fishing in regard to beach chairs. At one point, Kromer allegedly shoved one of the boys to the ground after tossing his fishing pole into the water. He then punched the boy in the face. From there, Kromer reportedly told the kid to bring the chairs back to where they had been and that if he were to report the event to the police, he would kill his family.
The Bills have made a statement claiming they are aware of the situation but have not said anything more on the matter. Kromer was brought in by head coach Rex Ryan this offseason after spending the last two campaigns with the Chicago Bears as the offensive coordinator for head coach Marc Trestman.
If this is true, Kromer will undoubtedly never work in the NFL again and could be facing some legitimate legal action. It is unknown the exact age of the boy at this time, but regardless, Kromer appears to be a monster if the allegations are founded.
This is not the sort of attention the Bills need before going into a high-profile training camp with the bombastic Ryan leading the charge. Buffalo has the longest playoff drought in the NFL, not having been in the postseason since 1999 when they lost to the Tennessee Titans in the Music City Miracle.
Ryan could be forced to start looking for a new offensive line coach at a very inopportune time. Yet, that is the least fo the worries for Kromer and the young boy who was allegedly hit by a grown man.
