The Home Run Derby is tonight, and halfway through one round, two American League sluggers are one step closer to a title.

Each year the Home Run Derby lets us know who the best sluggers in baseball are, and this year’s new rules are making things more exciting than ever. The Derby was in dire need of some change, and that’s what this year has brought with the implication of new rules that speed things up, slow them down at the right moment and give us a format that makes sense.

The bracket has made things easier to follow and made the Derby more competitive in ways that it hasn’t been before. It’s more of a one-on-one video game now, and it’s so far been fantastic.

Prince Fielder came to plate for his first round performance and belted 13 home runs. We all thought that might have been enough, but the hometown kid, Todd Frazier, stepped up and delivered in the new format in a way that validated the new rules. He blasted 13 homers nu regulation and used extra time to hit a round-one walk-off.

Here’s a look at the updated bracket now that Todd Frazier has eliminated Prince Fielder in the first-round of the Home Run Derby.
