The British Open is this weekend, but who are the golfers you need to be paying attention to and who is paired with who?

This weekend will bring about the British Open, where the best golfers in the world will not only be playing for their own benefit and riches, but for national pride as well. Easy major PGA tournament sees golfers playing for their home nation, but the British Open puts an emphasis on which golfer from which nation won.

It doesn’t factor into the score, it’s just there seems to be more national pride involved with the British Open then any other individual tournament on the calendar.

Along with the national pride element, the Open Championship is deep enough into the golf season that fans — both die hard and casual alike — have picked out a favorite that they like to root for. Whether this be an old titan of the gam like Tom Watson, Tiger Woods or John Daly or some of the new crew like Brandt Snedeker, Rickie Fowler or Jordan Spieth, everyone has a horse in this race in one way.
