Miami Marlins – Hanley Ramirez

Franchise Four: Jeff Conine, Mike Lowell, Gary Sheffield, Giancarlo Stanton

Given the often turbulent history of the Miami/Florida Marlins, it’s tough to imagine that they would have any players to truly consider as All-Time greats, even within the constraints of their own franchise. In fact, they lack a single player with a WAR over 31 while with the team.

It’s no wonder the team has had a tough time building a steady fan base.

With that said, the selections of Conine, Lowell, and Stanton are about as subjective as you can get, and to some degree, you could even get behind Gary Sheffield on this unit. But if you had to find one player that this team, and for that matter the ballot, completely omitted, it would have to be Hanley Ramirez.

The face of the team’s second major rebuild, Hanley still ranks first among the Marlins in WAR with a mark of 30.4. Additionally, he is sixth in wRC+, third in home runs, and fourth in RBI. Sure, his exit was a bit acrimonious and he rubbed some people the wrong way during his latter year-plus with the club, but there was no doubting what he meant to the team on the field from 2006-2011.
