Milwaukee Brewers – Bob Uecker

Franchise Four: Cecil Cooper, Rollie Fingers, Paul Molitor, Robin Yount

The overall history of the Milwaukee Brewers hasn’t been an overly happy one to say the least. And of the quality stars to spend significant time playing for the Brewers, one would have to find the selections of Cecil Cooper, Rollie Fingers, Paul Molitor, and Robin Yount to the team’s Franchise Four pretty agreeable. Given the presence of other “luminary” names like Jim Gantner, Gorman Thomas, and even Ryan Braun, it would be tough to argue much with the selections.

Of course, Prince Fielder may have a little bit of a beef, but even there, it would be hard to unseat any of the current selections in his favor.

Instead, perhaps a rather unorthodox suggestion is in order. Given his 44-year commitment to the Milwaukee Brewers as the voice of the team, perhaps Bob Uecker should have deserved some consideration here. It would be hard to find a single player or member of the front office that has given as much to the franchise or been a bigger face of the team than has Bob Uecker.

Of course, this suggestion is “juuust a bit outside” of the rules requiring players.
