The media has made its call on the 2015 Southeastern Conference, and the folks in Alabama will both love and hate it. After the SEC media days were completed, the gaggle decided that the Alabama Crimson Tide will win the SEC West while the Georgia Bulldogs are the overwhelming favorite to win the SEC East. However, the Auburn Tigers are the choice to win the SEC in totality, per ESPN.
Of the 176 total votes given to Alabama and Auburn to win the SEC title, the Tigers came out ahead with a 96-80 margin. However, the Crimson Tide had more points in the West title, earning a 1,405-1,362 outcome. This will surely go over well in Alabama, where everyone’s favorite pastime is to scream War Eagle and Roll Tide at the top of their lungs until somebody needs medical care.
The Western standings came out to be Alabama at the pinnacle, followed by Auburn, the LSU Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies and Mississippi State Bulldogs. Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen isn’t worried, per ESPN.
"“This is my seventh year coming here, and I think all seven years they’ve pretty much picked us to finish last in the West,” Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said. “It’s kind of like a tradition, I guess. We don’t really worry much about that. I’m much more concerned with how we finish.”"
The Eastern division was easily slanted toward Mark Richt and the Bulldogs, who received 166 first-place votes. The overall standings in the East are projected with Georgia at the top, followed in order by the Tennessee Volunteers, Missouri Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Florida Gators, Kentucky Wildcats and Vanderbilt Commodores.
Alabama is working on replacing some of its best offensive players from a year ago after losing quarterback Blake Sims, receiver Amari Cooper and running back T.J. Yeldon. Auburn is also breaking in new stars with the drafting of quarterback Nick Marshal and stud receiver Sammie Coates.
Perhaps this is why the voters are having such a tough time with which Alabama-based team can get it done.
Basically, Roll Eagle?
