Cole Hamels. 5. player. 6. . SP. Philadelphia Phillies

Cole Hamels is a name that has constantly been mentioned in trade rumors and he’s a guy who could help a contender get over the top as anywhere from a No. 2 to a No. 4 starter in the rotation.

The 31-year-old lefty has been cursed with being a member of the Philadelphia Phillies for so long. Since winning the World Series in 2008 and posting a 1.80 ERA during that postseason, Hamels has only made it back to the playoffs three times and past the first round just once.

Philadelphia seems to be in serious selling mode and the Phillies are looking to move Hamels in order to get some young prospects.

This season, Hamels has a 5-7 record with a 3.63 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 18 starts. It’s not that he’s under-performing at all –he is actually the best starter on the roster– but he’s been given little run support all year and he needs to head to a contender who can help him win ballgames.

It’s hard to even picture Hamels in a different uniform, and by the way he’s pitching, it will be hard for Phillies fans as well. But it’s time for him to move on to a better situation.
