MLB Trade Deadline: Top 5 pitchers on the market
As I stated earlier, the Reds are literally trying to get rid of anyone who has a pulse in order to build for the future.
Cincinnati has tried for years to bring a World Series title to town, but the drought has been growing and the same pieces have not produced much of anything but a couple of playoff appearances for the Reds.
There are some major bats in the lineup that have been discussed as possible trade options, such as Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier, but the Reds are looking to deal some of their key pitchers as well.
While this slide could include a few guys from Cincinnati — Aroldis Chapman and Mike Leake — Cueto is definitely the biggest name on the market from the team that resides at Great American Ball Park.
Cueto began his career with the Reds in 2008 as a mediocre bottom of the rotation-type of starter and has evolved into one of the league’s top aces. The 29-year Dominican-born superstar has recorded five straight seasons of a sub-3.00 ERA, and counting.
This year, Cueto has a 6-6 record with a 2.73 ERA and his record could be much more impressive on a contending squad. He may be the most realistic superstar on the trade block since the Reds have made it known he’s available for discussion.
