Surfer Mick Fanning attacked by shark in middle of competition (Video)

Surfer Mick Fanning was brutally attacked by a shark during a competition on Sunday and had to fight for his life in the murky waters.

Surfers and sharks do not get along, and that’s something we’re reminded of far too often over the summer months. Usually, shark attacks happen when surfers go out and get mistaken for prey that sharks typical hunt for and the attacks are usually never captured on film.

Not only was surfer Mick Fanning attacked by a shark, the attack was captured by FOX Sports cameras during the middle of a surfing competition this weekend.

The video is absolutely horrifying, and it will send chills down your spine every time you watch it.

Fanning ended up being alright — somehow. The competition has been suspended for the day though since, ya know, there’s a freaking shark lurking in the waters underneath the surfers competing.

How Fanning swam away from this attack unscathed is nothing short of a miracle.

Sharks and surfers are not strange bedfellows, but they’re not two entities that get along very well. There’s a long history of surfers being attacked and sometimes killed by sharks who mistake them for their prey, and this is probably the most terrifying attack ever captured in real time.

One thing is certain from this whole attack — Mick Fanning just became the world’s biggest badass for fighting a shark live on television and winning without suffering injury.
