Art Briles had a little more something to say on Wednesday about TCU and Baylor being left out of the College Football Playoff last season
Despite getting the playoff system that people had long been clamoring for, last year’s college football season still ended in some controversy. Both the TCU Horned Frogs and Baylor Bears were left out of the College Football Playoff, despite having as many losses as eventual champion Ohio State. The Buckeyes, with their drubbing of Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game, were able to jump over both for the last nod.
While TCU head coach Gary Patterson has been a little more conservative with his comments when it comes to this situation, Baylor head coach Art Briles has been anything but. Time and time again since last December, Briles has not been shy about letting us all know how he feels about the snub.
On Wednesday Briles was making his rounds at ESPN, and he expressed his belief that the reason both programs were snubbed from a shot at the national title was because — well, the old people just can’t relate to them!
Art Briles: “If Baylor or TCU had an older brand name, one of us would have got in the @CFBPlayoff”

Art Briles on 4 “brand names” making playoff: “A lot of 60 (year olds) on selection committee. Old dogs don’t wander far from home"

People have been complaining about how Briles has generally approached the snub, but he might actually have a point in this case. Despite what Ohio State did in their conference title game, you have to wonder whether or not the committee would have passed on a Big 12 team had its name been Oklahoma or Texas, especially the Longhorns.
