DraftKings fantasy baseball picks-July 22 lineups
Major League Baseball has a jam-packed Wednesday schedule for daily fantasy baseball players today including seven games this afternoon and nine games in the evening window. To help you get your lineups together for your DFS wins today, check out my DraftKings fantasy baseball picks for the three main windows on the following slides.
More from Baltimore Orioles
- MLB Rumors: Cardinals budging on Arenado, Orioles-Ohtani package, Yankees backup plan
- MLB Rumors: Shohei Ohtani, Angels, Dodgers, Rich Hill
- NY Mets: 4 monstrous trade packages for Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer
- MLB standings ordered by hard hit rate: Struggling Cardinals still cracking bats
- MLB Rumors: Nolan Arenado trade condition, Padres open for business, AL East trade tactics
There are two separate turbo windows and some late-only contests, but those each only contain three games, so I’ll focus on a lineup for the whole day, a lineup for this afternoon’s contests, and a lineup for tonight. You can find each lineup in this post with comments on why I’m picking those players.
Similar picks could be used on any of the many sites that offer daily fantasy baseball, but for the purposes of this post the salaries and roster structure are based on DraftKings typical setup. If you choose to play on FanDuel, Draftster, FantasyAces, or the new Yahoo daily fantasy site, my lineups would be similar with maybe some minor adjustments based on player pricing and scoring differences.
Whatever site you choose to play on, if you have a question about your DFS or season-long fantasy baseball team, you can find me @FansidedFantasy on Twitter throughout the day. I’ll also update you if I have to adjust my lineups based on weather or a team’s starting lineups as the day progresses. Let’s get right to my DraftKings fantasy baseball picks for this Wednesday, July 22.
All-day Lineup
SP-Jose Fernandez-Miami Marlins: Fernandez has started three games since coming off the DL and has averaged 24 DraftKings points in those three outings with a total of 21 strikeouts and just five runs allowed in 19 innings (2.50 ERA). Fernandez takes the mound in Arizona today looking to improve to 3-0.
SP-C.J. Wilson-Los Angeles Angels: The Angels are rolling to start the second half and look to C.J. Wilson as they try to win their seventh straight game. Wilson pitched eight shutout innings against Boston in his last start and has turned in six quality starts in his last seven outings. The Twins couldn’t score last night against Matt Shoemaker, and look for Wilson to continue their struggles tonight.
C-Matt Wieters-Baltimore Orioles: Wieters is a bargain at under 3,000 due to his struggles at the plate this season. However, he is 11-31 (.355) against Ivan Nova in his career with three doubles, four homers, and seven RBI.
1B-Prince Fielder-Texas Rangers: Fielder is rolling since the All Star break going 8-22 with a home run and raising his average of the month to .311 (19-61) with three homers. Fielder has hit safely in eight of his last nine games and is in a good matchup in the rarified air of Coors Field this afternoon.
2B-Jose Altuve-Houston Astros: Altuve is 20-63 (.317) this month and has multiple hits in two of his last three games while picking up his 26th and 27th stolen bases during that span. He is 3-3 against Red Sox’ starter Joe Kelly tonight who has been a train wreck this season and will likely give up plenty of runs tonight in Houston.
3B-Xander Bogaerts-Boston Red Sox: Bogaerts has his third straight multi-hit game last night raising his average this month to .410 (25-61). He is 2-5 in the past against tonight’s starter Collin McHugh and continues his strong summer.
SS-Carlos Correa-Houston Astros: Joining his double-play partner on my team, Correa has come out of the All Star break rolling with a 6-14 (.429) start to the second half of the season. He has hit safely in six straight games with extra base hits in four of his last five games.
OF-Adam Jones-Baltimore Orioles: Jones went 2-4 last night for his fifth straight multi-hit effort rising his monthly stats to 19-63 (.302) with six doubles and five homers. He has only gone 8-37 (.216) against Ivan Nova in the past but does have a home run and five RBI against the Yankees righty.
OF-Curtis Granderson-New York Mets: Granderson has picked things up since the break going 8-22 with five runs scored, a double, a home run, and three stolen bases. He and the Mets offense still has a long way to go, but he’s shown enough signs of life to deserve a look at his affordable 3,500 price tag.
OF-Gregor Blanco-San Francisco Giants: Blanco is 5-11 in his career against James Shields with a triple and four RBI. While he continues to start in place of Nori Aoki, Blanco has limited fantasy value and is a nice cheap outfield play today at just 2,600.
