The Gold Cup run for the USMNT came to an end on Wednesday night at the hands of the Jamaican team

Coming off a dominating 6-0 win on Saturday against Cuba in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Gold Cup, the USMNT were feeling pretty confident coming into the semifinal match on Wednesday night against Jamaica. It seemed as if a trip to the finals was on the horizon.

Well, those plans came to an absolute screeching halt, as the United States team were upset on Wednesday night inside the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, bringing their run to an abrupt end.

The problem all started when they fell behind 2-0 to the Jamaicans in the first half, not really being able to fully recover from that shock. Michael Bradley came out in the second half and tried his best to get the USMNT back in it, but that was all they’d get.

Here’s a look at the Jamaican upset of the USMNT on Wednesday.

So now it will be the Jamaicans that will take on the winner of Panama and Mexico in Philadelphia in the finals this Saturday. The United States were looking to claim the trophy on their soil, but that’s not happening.

Was this a failure on the part of the USMNT? If so, just how much?
