According to reports, the Chicago Bears have interest in free-agent tight end Jermaine Gresham.

After having back surgery in the offseason, free-agent tight end Jermaine Gresham is finally taking visits with teams before training camp begins. With a long list of suitors, Gresham will have plenty of options on who he wants to catch passes from next season.

One of those suitors is the Chicago Bears, according to multiple reports. Under the new regime of head coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Adam Gase, the Bears are looking to revamp their offense and put additional weapons around Jay Cutler, as they try to turn him into a reclamation project.

The team drafted its wide receiver of the future in Kevin White this year. They also have talented receiver Alshon Jeffrey and veteran tight end Martellus Bennett as weapons for Cutler.

Could they be soon be bringing in another Pro Bowl talent in Gresham? According to Brad Briggs of The Chicago Tribune, the Bears have had discussions on whether or not to bring in the tight end.

He may not have lived up to his status as a first-round pick, but there’s no doubt Gresham is one of the better tight ends in the league, and having two good ones would give Chicago a pretty good passing offense. Additionally, Cutler would have no excuse not to get the job done in a season that could make or break his career in the Windy City.

However, as with any prized free agent, there’s going to be competition and Gresham will have his choice. Still, all it could take is the Bears simply offering him the money he wants and this thing could be over right away.

The race for Gresham is on, and teams are firmly positioning themselves for the tight end before training camp.
