Jesus Corona fights for the ball and then gives Mexico a 2-0 lead over Jamaica in the Gold Cup Final with a superb shot on goal.

The Mexican national team is looking to prove their worth being Gold Cup champions after facing scrutiny for reaching the final thanks to some late and controversial calls that went their way. Andres Guardado gave Mexico a lead in the first half and at the start of the second half Jesus Corona gave El Tri the insurance goal.

What is particularly beautiful about this goal is how Coronoa fought off an opponent to get the ball, leading to him running towards the box and getting the shot off. Without that bit of grit from Corona to get the ball away from the Jamaican player, this goal doesn’t get scored.

And an interesting fact, this was Corona’s first shot on goal of the tournament.
