The MLB trade deadline is right around the corner, and both New York teams are interested in acquiring Martin Prado.

With the MLB trade deadline inching closer and closer, the Mets and Yankees are starting to look more and more desperate to strike a deal because everyone thinks they have to. Not teams missed out on Troy Tulowitzki and neither team landed Ben Zorbist before he was dealt to the Royals.

It’s not that the Yankees or Mets need to make a deal, but the two teams seem to think that they do. This is where Miami Marlins infielder Martin Prado enters the trade discussion in New York.

According to Joel Sherman from the New York Post, the Yankees and Mets are interested in acquiring Martin Prado from the Miami Marlins as a secondary option to Ben Zorbist.

What shows that this might be a trade that smacks of desperation, as the Yankees had Prado a few years ago and let him go. They’re now interested in re-acquiring him, which makes sense but that all needed to be pointed out.

The Yankees and Mets need hitting, but the Bombers need bullpen pitching and that should probably be their priority. If they can lock down the last three innings of games in the postseason, they won’t need whatever utility production that Prado will provide.
