The Toronto Blue Jays have already made one major splash in the run up to Friday’s trade deadline, and it looks as though they’re primed to pull off yet another blockbuster trade. According to Jon Heyman, the Blue Jays are “making a major push” for Detroit left-hander David Price.

In Heyman’s estimation, the Jays are clubhouse leader to land Price.

Yahoo’s Jeff Passan has gone a step further and claims that, according to his sources, Price to Toronto is “imminent.”

Prior to Wednesday there was speculation as to whether Price would be shopped at all. Then on Wednesday afternoon Detroit informed teams that it planned on “rebooting” and that it would field offers for superstars, such as Price and Yoenis Cespedes.

On the season, Price has a record of 9-4, and owns a 2.53 ERA and 1.11 WHIP (both markedly better than his career averages). He will be a free agent after the season.

Should the Blue Jays land Price it will be their second major trade in a week’s time. The team bolstered its lineup by trading Jose Reyes and a collection of farm players to Colorado for shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.
