Ryan Rua helped the Rangers tie the Yankees on Thursday night with and inside-the-park home run
The New York Yankees and Texas Rangers are locked in a heated battle Thursday night as they get set to wrap up their series. In the fourth inning the Yankees were holding a 5-4 lead with CC Sabathia on the mound, so the Rangers were looking for anything they could get.
Well, enter Ryan Rua to save the day.
Rua came up to the plate with his team down by one to face Sabathia, and all he did was nail an inside-the-park home run to get his team even with the Yankees. Rua dropped the ball into short center field and it was misplayed by Jacoby Ellsbury. With no back up behind him, Ellsbury couldn’t recover in time to prevent disaster from happening.
Now the real question on this play, though, is why there was no back up there for Ellsbury after he misplayed the ball. If anything, Carlos Beltran should have been over there for some support, but he was nowhere to be found. Basically, Ellsbury was hung out to dry.
Whatever the case may have been, we got to see the rare inside-the-park home run on Thursday.
